Best Smart Floor Lamp: Govee Floor Lamp 3 vs Pro vs Lamp 2 vs Hue Play
Govee Floor Lamp 3, Pro, Lamp 2 or Basic? Compare brightness, warm white, remotes and Matter, plus when the Philips Hue Play Floor Lamp is the better buy.
Light bar floor lamps all look alike in a product photo: a thin glowing pole on a small base. In a room they behave differently. Some throw the most color, some do the best warm white, and some only look smooth facing a wall.
This guide sorts out the Govee lineup (Floor Lamp 3, Pro, Lamp 2 and Basic), explains when the Philips Hue Play Floor Lamp is the better buy, and covers two alternatives worth a look.
Quick verdict
- Best overall: the Govee Floor Lamp 3. The brightest cool white and the strongest color of the light bar lamps compared, a magnetic remote, and a base that glows too.
- Best warm white and best for a Hue home: the Philips Hue Play Floor Lamp. It wins at a cozy 2700K, and it is the easiest to run in Home Assistant. App only, no remote.
- A lamp plus a speaker: the Govee Floor Lamp Pro, the tallest of Govee's earlier lamps, with a Bluetooth speaker and white noise in the base.
- Middle of the Govee range: the Govee Floor Lamp 2. Whites close to the Pro, Matter support and the magnetic remote, at a standard 5 ft height.
- The simplest Govee: the Govee RGBIC Floor Lamp Basic, if it will face a wall.

How these lamps actually differ
Cool white and color
At 6500K, the Govee Floor Lamp 3 is the brightest of the light bar lamps compared, with the Hue Play and Nanoleaf's bar lamp close behind and the Neewer and SwitchBot a step lower. Color follows the same pattern: Govee ties Hue on red and leads on green and blue. The SwitchBot trails on green and blue. Within Govee's older lineup, the Pro pulls clearly ahead of the Lamp 2 and Basic in colored modes, in both brightness and accuracy.
Warm white flips the order
Switch to 2700K, the shade most people use in the evening, and the Hue Play comes out on top. The Neewer is a surprisingly close second, then Govee and Nanoleaf, then SwitchBot. For a soft warm corner glow, this matters more than peak lumens. The same gap shows up between older models: Hue's Gradient Signe produced a warmer, more accurate white and smoother color gradients than Govee's Lyra, while the Lyra was brighter.
Bead spacing at low brightness
Light bar lamps are designed to point at a wall or corner and bounce a soft wash of light. Turn one around so the strip faces the room, and the diffuser has to hide the individual LEDs, which is hardest at minimum brightness. The Govee Floor Lamp 3 and Hue Play blend into the smoothest line. The SwitchBot's LEDs sit a bit farther apart. In the Govee lineup, the Pro's beads are packed about a centimeter apart, while the Basic's are visibly spaced, so gaps show on dim settings when looking straight at it. Bounced off a wall, that difference mostly disappears.
How to choose
Corner bounce or facing-you accent
Pointed at a wall, any of these works. For a decorative strip facing the couch, pick tight beads or a lamp built for it. The Neewer suits that job best: its suspended arm looks good from the front, and its power cord exits the front of the base, which points the strip toward the room.
Remote or app
The Floor Lamp 3, Pro and Lamp 2 include a remote that snaps magnetically onto the arm. The Neewer has a remote without the magnetic mount. The Basic and SwitchBot use a button on the power cord, and the Hue has no physical control at all; it runs on the app, voice, or a separately sold Hue switch.
Ecosystem and Matter
Everything here works with its own app plus Alexa and Google Home, which is all many buyers need. Beyond that, the lamps split. Hue and Nanoleaf integrate most cleanly with other platforms, and the Home Assistant Hue integration runs locally through the Bridge. SwitchBot is not far behind, with native Matter. Govee gets basic local control in Home Assistant, but full scene control relies on its cloud API. The Pro and Lamp 2 support Matter, and the Lamp 2 listing notes that Apple Home through Matter needs an IPv6-capable network. The Neewer is limited to Alexa and Google Home for now.
For syncing lamps with a TV, Govee, Hue and Nanoleaf are the brands here with camera or HDMI sync box products. Govee's DreamView links its lights for TV, music and scene effects, and Govee lamps also have sound-reactive modes. Height and footprint
Of Govee's earlier lamps, the Pro is the tallest at 67 inches, with the thickest arm and a large fabric-covered base. The Lamp 2 stands about 5 ft, the Basic about 4.5 ft on a flat plate about 8 inches wide, and the Hue Play is the smallest of the newer group at 53 inches. The Floor Lamp 3 has the largest base of its group, a cylinder that doubles as a 360° ambient light.

The picks in detail
Govee Floor Lamp 3
The Floor Lamp 3 is the most complete lamp in the group. It leads on cool white brightness and on green and blue, ties for red, and blends smoothly at low brightness. The listing rates it at 2,100 lumens at 6500K, with whites from 1000K to 10000K. The magnetic remote, the glowing cylindrical base and a large library of preset scenes make it easy for a beginner. Its weak spot is warm white, where it lands behind the Hue and Neewer, and its local smart home support is thinner than Hue's.

Philips Hue Play Floor Lamp
The Hue Play is physically the smallest lamp here but sits with Govee among the brightest, has the best warm white, and arrives fully assembled as one piece. The catches: no remote, and the Bridge, sold separately, unlocks the full Hue experience. For a home already on Hue, or one built around Home Assistant, it is the easy choice.

Govee Floor Lamp Pro
The Pro's reason to exist is the speaker in its base. It plays music over Bluetooth with sound good enough for most people, and it includes white noise and soundscapes, so it doubles as a sleep machine. Its whites run 2200K to 6500K, its arm rotates 300° to aim the light without moving the base, and its base has an underglow. Skip it if a separate speaker already sits in the room.
Lamp plus speaker
Govee Floor Lamp Pro

Govee Floor Lamp 2
The Lamp 2 shares the Pro's look in a smaller frame. Its warm and cool whites are close to the Pro's, it supports Matter and comes with the magnetic remote, and the base has a gradient finish with light inside. Color modes are where it gives ground to the Pro.

Govee RGBIC Floor Lamp Basic
The Basic keeps the light bar idea in the most compact form: the thinnest arm, a small flat base, and 1,000 lumens. Cool white is its weakest range, the beads show gaps when dim and viewed head-on, and control is an on/off button on the cord. Aimed at a wall, those trade-offs mostly vanish.

Other lamps worth a look
- NEEWER NF01 Floor Lamp: a strong decorative pick among the light bars. Solid output, near-Hue warm white, many preset scenes, a remote, and a design that looks best facing the room. Smart home support is thin.
- SwitchBot Smart Floor Lamp RGBICWW: native Matter and Apple Home support. It trails on brightness, and it is the only one with a wall mount that holds the bar horizontally without the base.
- Govee Cylinder lamp: not a light bar. A 360° head throws light in every direction and makes a room feel brighter than its 1,500 lumens suggest.

Frequently asked questions
Which Govee floor lamp is the best?
The Govee Floor Lamp 3 is the strongest all-rounder: the brightest cool white and color of the light bar lamps compared, a magnetic remote and a base that lights up. The Floor Lamp Pro makes sense only if a built-in Bluetooth speaker and white noise are wanted. The Floor Lamp 2 is the middle option, and the Basic is the compact pick for bouncing light off a wall.
What is the difference between the Govee Floor Lamp Pro and Floor Lamp 2?
The Pro is taller (67 inches versus about 5 ft), has a thicker arm, a rotating 300° arm and a speaker in its fabric base, and is brighter and more accurate in color modes. White light from the two is close. Both include the magnetic remote and support Matter.
Is the Philips Hue Play Floor Lamp better than Govee?
It is better for warm white at 2700K and for smart home integration, especially Home Assistant. Govee's Floor Lamp 3 is brighter in cool white and stronger on color, and it includes a remote. The Hue has no physical controls, and a Hue Bridge, sold separately, unlocks its full features.
Do Govee floor lamps work with Apple Home?
The Floor Lamp Pro and Floor Lamp 2 support Matter, which is how they reach Apple Home. The Lamp 2 listing notes that Apple Home through Matter needs a network with IPv6. Check each listing before buying for a HomeKit setup.
Should a light bar floor lamp face the wall or the room?
They are designed to face a wall or corner, which bounces a soft, even glow. Facing the room turns the strip into a decorative accent, but individual LEDs can show at low brightness on lamps with wider bead spacing, such as the Govee Basic. The Neewer NF01 is the best fit for facing the room.
Does the Govee Floor Lamp Basic come with a remote?
No. It has an on/off button on the power cord and is controlled through the Govee app or a voice assistant. The Floor Lamp 3, Pro and Lamp 2 include a remote that attaches magnetically to the arm.
