Ivins Utah is home to about 10,000 residents and is located in Washington County northwest of St. George and just north of Santa Clara. It’s nestled at the base of the Snow Canyon State Park and is accessible along Snow Canyon Parkway or old US Highway 91.

Considered a suburb or bedroom community of the St. George Metro area, Ivins has only been a city since 1998. It has transformed from a sleepy farming community to more of an affluent bedroom suburb and resort town. It’s close to gorgeous scenery and multiple outdoor recreational activities and entertainment.

Schools

Ivins is part of the Washington County school district and operates two elementary schools, the Red Mountain elementary school and the Vista school for grades kindergarten through 8. There’s one intermediate school, Law the Ridge, for grades 6 – 7, the Snow Canyon middle school for grades 8 – 9, and the Snow Canyon high school for grades 10 – 12. The Tuacahn high school for the arts is also located in Ivins. The Rocky Vista University of Osteopathic Medicine and Dixie State University is also located close to Ivins.

What to Do in Ivins

Ivins is home to the Kayenta Desert community featuring the Coyote Gulch Art Village, a growing enclave of art galleries, studios, and an annual art festival. It offers shops, restaurants, art classes, photography, and much more as well as a unique labyrinth made from stones called the Desert Roads. If you’re into history and art, you can’t miss the petroglyphs from the Anasazi Tribe along the banks of the Santa Clara River. There are two world-class spas located in Ivins, the Red Mountain Resort, and the Movara Resort.

The city of Ivins offers a variety of residential and community events and activities such as art exhibits, day trips to Hoover dam, hiking and biking events, marathons, and festivals. Due to the location, Ivins parks and rec department is thriving with camps, multiple city parks, pavilions, and outdoor activities.

The Tuacahn Center for the Arts features an outdoor amphitheater, Broadway musicals, concerts and events, as well as several dining options, gift galleries, and a Saturday market.
