New Construction Homes for Sale in Central, Utah

Central is a small unincorporated community in southern Iron County, sitting at roughly 5,800 feet between Cedar City and Pine Valley along Highway 18. It's high desert with cooler summers than St. George — typically 10 to 15 degrees less in July — and just enough winter to see snow without the heavy accumulation you'd get in Brian Head or Cedar Mountain. New construction here tends to be custom or semi-custom on larger parcels rather than tract subdivisions, which fits the area's rural character. Lot sizes commonly run from half-acre to several acres, and many builders are putting up homes designed for the surrounding landscape: stucco and stone exteriors, deep eaves, oversized garages for trucks and RVs, and floor plans that prioritize main-level living for buyers relocating from out of state.

Buyers drawn to Central usually want quieter pace and elbow room while staying within reasonable distance of services — Cedar City and its regional hospital are about 25 minutes north, St. George is roughly an hour south, and the Las Vegas airport is around two and a half hours. Pine Valley Reservoir, the Pine Valley Wilderness, and Veyo are all close for hiking, fishing, and weekend trips. Pricing on new builds in this pocket of Iron and Washington County tends to land well below comparable new construction in Washington Fields or Hurricane, which is part of the appeal.
