Bicknell, Utah is a small town with a population of about 300 in Wayne County in Southern Utah. Bicknell gets its name from Thomas W. Bicknell, a wealthy author and historian from Rhode Island who offered any town that would name themselves after him a thousand-volume library in 1914. Bicknell accepted the offer and changed their name from the original moniker, Thurber. The town is known for its quirky annual film festival, pioneer history, and peaceful way of life.

Bicknell is about 17 miles west of Capitol Reef National Park, a geologic treasure that showcases cliffs, canyons, domes, bridges, and a geologic monocline that extends nearly 100 miles.
