This small community is the county seat of Kane County nestled along the Kanab Creek just north of the Arizona State line. Movies like Sergeants 3, the old Planet of the Apes, Maverick, and many episodes of the Loan Ranger were filmed in the southern Utah town.

The main downtown areas located north along W. Center St. and South 100 E. You’ll find many restaurants, shops, and markets along this route as well as parks, services, and other amenities. The major residential area is located southwest of downtown as well as several parks and trailheads. The Kanab Airport is also located south along 89 A and the town is about an hour and ½ East of St. George, just minutes from the Arizona border, and about 25 minutes south of Mount Carmel and the Mount Carmel junction.

Residents of Kanab are part of the Kane County school district and the small town has its own elementary school, high school, and middle school. The Big Water school, Lake Powell, Valley Elementary, and Valley high school are also part of the school district.
